A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser to remember something between visits - that you're signed in, for example. This page lists, by name, every cookie Bifyo itself sets, plus the one third-party script that sets its own. Nothing here is generic boilerplate - it's read straight from the code that sets each cookie.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Essential? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Session cookie | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages. Set the moment you log in or create an account. | Until you sign out, or the session expires from inactivity | Yes |
| CSRF token | A per-session security token that prevents another site from submitting forms on your behalf without your knowledge. | Session | Yes |
| bifyo_aff_ref | Remembers which Bifyo affiliate referred you (from an affiliate's bifyo.com/part/… link or a ?ref= link), so that if you subscribe later, the right affiliate is credited. | 30 days | No |
None of these are used for cross-site advertising, and none are sold to third parties.
Bifyo loads AFS Analytics on every page to understand aggregate site usage (which pages get visited, roughly how). It may set its own cookies to distinguish visitors - we don't control their exact names or lifetimes; see AFS Analytics' own policy for that detail. We don't load any advertising or social-media tracking pixels.
Your light/dark theme preference is saved in your browser's local storage, not a cookie - it never leaves your device and isn't sent to our servers. Clearing your browser's site data will reset it to the default.
Every browser lets you view, block, or delete cookies from its settings. Blocking the session cookie will sign you out and stop you from staying logged in; blocking the referral cookie just means an affiliate link you clicked won't be remembered if you sign up later. There's no cookie-consent banner on Bifyo today, since the only non-essential cookie is a first-party referral tracker with no advertising use - if that changes, this policy and the site will be updated together.
If we add or remove a cookie, we'll update the table above. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version.
